SMART Reading Volunteer Resources
Volunteers are the heart of SMART Reading!
SMART Reading was founded on the idea that communities should be involved in children’s education. Since our start in 1992, we have been in awe of our amazing volunteers and their generosity and commitment to building a brighter future for Oregon’s children. SMART Reading is a catalyst for bringing together engaged and concerned citizens to fundamentally change the lives of children, one hour and one book at a time. We rely on volunteers for every level of our organization’s work from leadership expertise, graphic design, office work, data entry, fundraising, event planning, onsite program implementation and supervision, and reading to students.
A Note About COVID-19: Due to ongoing safety precautions related to the pandemic, our programs are primarily virtual. We’ve made adaptations in how we deliver our program that allow us to continue serving students with reading support and books to keep. As a result, our volunteer opportunities have changed.
