Celebrating the Joy of Reading Through Community Murals

Thank you for stopping by a SMART Reading mural! We’re a children’s literacy nonprofit that serves Oregon kids with two ingredients critical for literacy and learning success: shared reading time and books to keep. We mobilize volunteers to provide reading support and access to books for children from birth to 8th grade, helping to build confidence, literacy skills and a love of reading.

In celebration of our 30th anniversary in 2021-22, we commissioned murals celebrating the joy and power of reading in communities across the state. Learn more and see photos of each mural below.
