South Valley Area
The SMART Reading South Valley Area team implements SMART Reading and raises funds to support SMART Reading in Benton, Linn and Lane Counties located in the Willamette Valley. In 2020-2021, we served 2,686 PreK through third-grade children with the help of 690 local volunteers. We are focused on recruiting more volunteers and establishing strong financial support among our communities to ensure we can continue the important work of empowering local children through reading.
2021-22 UPDATE: Due to ongoing safety precautions related to the pandemic, our programs are primarily virtual. We’ve made adaptations in how we deliver our program that allow us to continue serving students with reading support and books to keep. As a result, our volunteer opportunities have changed.
