Empowering Oregon's Youngest Students for Success: A Virtual Literacy Summit

Join SMART Reading as we celebrate our 30th anniversary with an afternoon of informative and inspiring conversations about how Oregonians from all across the state are coming together to support our youngest readers. The coronavirus pandemic has added significant new challenges to the ones already faced by Oregon kids. But together, our community can help students make up missed learning and become excited, confident young readers. At 1 PM, we’ll hear from state education leaders about the impact of the pandemic on early learning and the steps they’re taking to ensure kids can make up for missed learning. Then at 2 PM, we’ll talk with experts in literacy instruction and social-emotional development about concrete strategies educators, parents and caregivers, and volunteers can use to help kids develop these critical skills. And finally, at 3 PM we’ll hear from community-based organizations about the creative and inspiring work they’re doing to continue supporting kids and families across our state.
