SELCO Book Drives Across Oregon

SELCO Community Credit Union is hosting children’s book drives for SMART across the state this month! At locations in Albany, Bend, Burns, Eugene, Portland, Redmond, Salem, and Springfield.

About the Children's Book Bank at SMART Reading: In 2022 SMART Reading merged with a fellow nonprofit, the Children's Book Bank, which collects community-donated books that are sorted, cleaned, refurbished and redistributed to kids in the Portland Area. One of our goals with the merger is to expand this sustainable programming to other parts of the state.

SMART Reading’s mission is to spark joy and opportunity through the magic of a shared book.

With the help of our amazing community of volunteers, we’re helping thousands of kids become strong, confident readers through fun weekly reading sessions and books to keep.

Each year, we put more than 215,000 books into the hands of children, ensuring they have a collection of treasured favorites to return to again and again.

Our goal is to raise $75,000 to purchase books that ignite the imagination, reflect kids' identities and experiences, cause fits of giggles, and inspire the next generation to become lifelong readers. Join us by making a gift…for the love of books!
