The SMART Reading Central Area team implements SMART Reading programs, and raises funds to support SMART Reading in Central Oregon. In 2019-2020 in SMART Reading’s Central Area, we served 1,051 PreK through third-grade children with the help of 425 local volunteers. We are focused on recruiting more volunteers and establishing strong financial support among our communities to ensure we can continue this important work of empowering local children through reading.

Volunteer Opportunities:

2021-22 UPDATE: Our services will remain virtual through at least December 2021 and we’ve made adaptations in how we deliver our program that allow us to continue serving students with reading support and books to keep. As a result, our volunteer opportunities have changed. Click here for more information on volunteering with SMART Reading. For a list of sites we serve in the Central area, click here, or call 541-797-7726.
